Many of you may wonder, where to go in order to take the most epic photos in Iceland. My anwser may shock you, but literally no matter where you go, your photo will be BLOODY amazing. I’d probably say that Iceland is one of the most photogenic countries you’ll visit. And having said that,, I decided to highlight for you some of my favourite spots for a cool photo. Don’t worry if you are not a proffesional photographer, I’m not one myself! After reading my post you’ll definitely manage to take as beautiful photos of Iceland as I managed to get while traveling around this country!
10. Black beach, Reynisfjara - situated in the South of Iceland, around 2,5 h from the capital city. It's one of the most breathtaking beaches you’ll ever see. You can observe some impressive rock formations sticking up from the sea which will make your photo look scary but mysteriously beautiful.
9. Basalt rock forms on the black beach - at the black beach you can spot large collumns that hold the cliff at the end of the beach. You may pop up to take a great photo but beware of the waves. If any of you visited the black beach before, you’ll know what I’m talking about. If you are wondering, check out some videos from the beach where people get swiped off by gigantic waves. Guys, I know we do a lot of crazy things to take an epic insta-pic, but for those who love life… don’t step up on the columns if you see large waves running towards you!
8. Thingvellir National Park - belongs to one of the main attractions within the famous Icelandic „Golden Circle”. The Golden Circle is a popular route, not too far away from Reykjavik, the capital. It consists of Gullfoss waterfall, geysirs, Kerid crater and the National Park. Check out the photo below and you’ll understand why it’s such a photogenic spot!
7. Seljalandsfoss waterfall - ok, who doesn’t love waterfalls?! It’s around 60 m heigh, and the main attraction is that you can actually walk around it and get soaking wet :) In this case, remember to take a waterfproof coat with you!
6. View from the top of Dynjandi waterfall - This picture might be a case of taste, but let’s be real; you climb on top of the fjord and you can admire all of those cold colours from the ocean mixed with all the warm colours from the rocks and grassy hay.

5. Harbor in Isafjordur - I have to admit that the quality of the photo is not the best, but this time I’ll blame it on the weather. When the sun comes out, the fjords and ships are bathed in sunrays making the photo look sick! In my last post I was describing my trip through the Icelandic fjords, mentioning as well Isafjordur - for those who haven’t visited my post before, you can check it out by clicking here.
4. Hot river in Reykjadalur - now this is something that I call a hidden gem. In order to get to the hot river you have to climb through some of those small Icelandic mountains - so if on the map it seems that the natural hot river is somewhere 5 min away from the parking spot, it’s not. The hike is chilled, takes you around 1 hour to get to the river. If you’d like to get some more information about the spot, feel free to text me!
Now getting to my TOP 3 favourite photo spots (from the places that I managed to see in Iceland)
3. Small hot spring just for your feet in the middle of Reykjavik - surprisingly not many visitors know about this adorable small hot spring, but it’s one of the best places to sit and warm your feet while admiring the view of Esjan (Reykjaviks mountain). The spot is situated near the lighthouse that’s on the end of the headland and it blends into multiple rocks. Maybe that’s the main reason for travelers to pass it without noticing?
2. Diamond Beach in Iceland - I assume that many of you have heard about the Diamond Beach that forms thanks to icebergs that detach from Jokulsarlon glacier. Those big stones of Ice look like billions of diamonds lying on the ground (even a billionare won’t be able to buy you something so beautiful! :)) During the Icelandic summer season you might not be able to see them because they melt quicker. The first time I went there, in the end of March, the diamonds were huge! Later in April you could still find them, but they 10 x smaller than before. What tops the diamod beach is the amount of seals that swim nearby the beach giving an additional attraction to the tourists.
1. Hidden Hot Spring - somewhere on the Golden Circles route. Now this will be the only hint from me as to where the natural hot spring is situated ;). Some of you might be lucky to know the location of this unbelieavable wonder of nature. Some of you might not be so lucky ;) Fun fact about the hot spring - a long time ago it served as a place to bath sheeps, and now? People bath in it admiring the views from top of the mountain in the middle of nowhere!
This is my top 10 of instagramable places in Iceland! Do you have your favourite spots from this magical country? Feel free to share them with me! I definitely have to go back in order to explore more of the north and east side of Iceland. I wonder how many more places I’ll be able to add to my list of top 10 photos? Or maybe I’ll have to do a top 20?! :O
